Just Tides privacy policy

Last updated 21 October 2026. Just Tides is a Garmin Connect IQ watch app that shows the next high and low tide and first and last light for where you are.

What the app sends

To get tide predictions, the watch sends an approximate location, rounded to 0.1 degrees (about 10 km), through the Garmin Connect app on your paired phone to the Just Tides server. The server passes that rounded location to WorldTides (Brainware LLC), which returns the predicted tide times.

The app does not send your exact position, your name, your Garmin account, or any device identifier. First and last light are calculated on the watch and are not sent anywhere.

What is stored

Your watch keeps the latest tide times and the rounded location they belong to, so the glance works without a connection. The Just Tides server keeps tide predictions per 10 km area for up to three days so nearby users share one lookup. It does not store IP addresses or any information about who asked.

The server runs on Cloudflare, which may process IP addresses to deliver and protect the service under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Requests from the watch pass through Garmin's services under Garmin's privacy policy. WorldTides' handling of requests is covered by its privacy policy.

Location permission

The app uses the watch's last GPS position, or asks the watch for a one-off GPS fix if it has none. It does not track you or use GPS in the background. If you do not want your approximate location sent, do not install or open the app.

Safety

Tide predictions are estimates. Do not use Just Tides for navigation or as your only source of tide information.
